Body Contouring

Body contouring is a non-invasive treatment the helps to lift, firm and tighten skin by aiding the skin’s own ability to produce collagen and elastin. Skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, cellulite, and acne scarring are targeted. This lipo-cavitation and radio frequency treatment procedure uses heat and ultrasonic waves to breakdown cellulite and fat cells, essentially liquifying those cells. The body then flushes out these cells through lymphatic drainage. Post treatment your skin will continue to improve thanks to increased collagen and elastin production.

Lipo-cavitation is a virtually painless, non-surgical body contouring technique that’s performed as an alternative to liposuction. A small amount of gel is applied on the skin at the desired area and the ultrasound device is applied to the skin during a 20 to 30-minute treatment session. It is a quick, convenient and painless radio frequency treatment procedure that immediately reveals tighter, younger looking skin, all without the cost and pain of cosmetic procedures that promise similar results.

Natural production of collagen & elastin stops as we get older. The heat of the lipo-cavitation radio frequency treatment stimulates cells in the connective tissues causing the body to reproduce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that has depleted over the years. The radio frequency gently softens fine lines with each subsequent treatment.

The ultrasound device called a transducer, used in the procedure, is calibrated only to target fat cells. When ultrasonic waves are directed to the area of fatty tissue, they damage the fat cell membranes causing the fat cells to break down. Because the device is calibrated only to target fat cells, no other damage will occur to surrounding tissues or organs.

As the fat cells break down, triglycerides and other fatty substances that are components of the flabby tissue are released. The heat from the wand causes an instant tightening of the elastin fibers which will improve which each subsequent treatment. This results in the skin looking much firmer and tighter- almost like an elastic band snapping back into place! During the week after a lipo-cavitation treatment, your body will process the excess triglycerides and fatty substances through normal physiological processes.

Most people who choose to have lipo-cavitation see measurable reductions in fat, cellulite and fine lines within the first week. However, a treatment schedule of 6 to 8 weekly sessions is typical to achieve desired weight loss and body composition changes.
Before your first treatment, Shannon will meet with you for a consultation to discuss your goals and desired body image and then establish a treatment plan to meet your needs. Ideal candidates for lipo-cavitation are those who are moderately active and follow a healthy diet.

Lipo-cavitation is similar to liposuction in terms of the areas of the body where it can be used. The most common areas of the body where lipo-cavitation is used include the abdomen, face, neck, back, cheeks, thighs, chin, hips, upper arms and buttocks. It has also been used to reduce excess breast tissue in overweight men.

Before lipo-cavitation, you should already be moderately active and eat a healthy diet. In the week before a treatment session, drink about 8 cups of water daily, avoid alcohol, and tanning. It’s important to follow these recommendations.
Adequate fluids are needed to help your body process the excess fat and triglycerides that will be released as a result of the procedure. Too much alcohol will limit liver function needed to process these substances. And tanning prior to a treatment, can make your skin ultra-sensitive to the ultrasonic waves used in the treatment.
After treatment, you should continue adequate amounts of water and getting regular exercise to help your body process the excess triglycerides and fatty substances released during the procedure.
Although you do see immediate results with the treatment, the reproduction of collagen can take a number of months to run its course. This means you will continue to see results even after you have completed your treatment course while the collagen does its thing!

The known side effects of lipo-cavitation are minimal, compared to surgical liposuction. For most people, the treatment is painless and doesn’t require any recovery time. You may experience temporary skin sensitivity, mild bruising, or fluid build-up, where the transducer was used.
